The prophesied New Covenant, spoken by Jeremiah, was ratified by Yeshua at the last supper with His Disciples and fulfilled with His crucifixion, burial, and resurrection. The writer of the letter to the Hebrews introduced the Hebrews to a New Priesthood that they had very limited knowledge about and revealed that this new Covenant with the House of Israel also came with a new Priesthood from the House of Judah and not from the lineage of Aaron and his sons of the tribe of Levi as in the first Covenant. Why did the New Covenant require a new priesthood? The New Covenant, prophesied by Jeremiah and fulfilled through Yeshua’s death and resurrection, brought a necessary change in priesthood. Unlike the Levitical priesthood of Aaron, the new priesthood came through Yeshua from the tribe of Judah. This shift was essential because the old Covenant and its priesthood could not bring complete redemption. The new priesthood under Yeshua established a better Covenant—one rooted in heavenly authority, eternal mediation, and spiritual transformation for the House of Israel.
