YeHoVaH informed Moses and Joshua, who would become Israel’s new leader, that the newly formed nation of Israel would prostitute themselves to the foreign gods of the land they were entering and that they would forsake Him, break the Covenant they made with Him, and as a result, experience destruction at His hand. Moses was instructed by YeHoVaH, in the presence of Joshua, to write a prophetic song that would speak to Israel in the days of their rebellion and to teach that song to all the people. YeHoVaH’s song of rebellion was His case against Israel and why He had turned His face away from His people.

It was to be taught to all the people, making clear the consequences of forsaking Him and turning to foreign gods.
