In this third Chapter of Paul’s letter to the Colossians, he transitions from doctrine to the Believer’s daily life. After he revealed the mystery of “Messiah in you, the hope of glory” that he spoke about in Chapter 1 and how the Messiah in body form was the full representative of the Godhead in Chapter 2, he gives practical instructions on how to become like the Messiah.

Every Believer who confesses faith in the Messiah must deal with the old nature, or old man, to become the new creation or new man we are all called to become. To become the new man, we must be willing and actively engaged in letting go of the old man and putting him off so that we can put on the new man in all his glory in orderto walk in the fullness of the power of YeHoVaH, like Yeshua did.

What does Colossians 3 teach Believers about becoming like Messiah in everyday life? In Colossians 3, Arthur Bailey teaches that the Apostle Paul moves from revealing deep spiritual truths to giving practical instructions for the Believer’s daily walk. After establishing “Messiah in you, the hope of glory” and affirming that Yeshua is the full representative of the Godhead, Paul explains how those truths must be lived out in real life. Becoming like Messiah is not merely a belief—it is an intentional way of living.

Paul makes it clear that every Believer must confront the old nature, often referred to as the “old man.” This old man represents the former way of thinking, behaving, and responding before coming into Messiah. Transformation requires more than confession; it demands active participation in putting off the old man and his practices.

Arthur Bailey emphasizes that to walk as a new creation, Believers must deliberately put on the new man—renewed in righteousness, holiness, and obedience. This process enables Believers to walk in the fullness of the power of YeHoVaH, reflecting the character, authority, and example demonstrated by Messiah Yeshua in His earthly life.
