The miracle that took place at the Jordan River crossing was a testament that generated a testimony for a new generation of Israelites that had not witnessed the Red Sea crossing some forty years earlier. YeHoVaH called His people to be a Holy people as He is a Holy God. The Laws they were given were for His holy, set apart people to live holy unto Him! The grace of YeHoVaH took into account that man was a fallen creature with immoral tendencies, so His Laws contained Ordinances, Statutes, and Judgments for certain behaviors.  However, for some behaviors, the death penalty was required.  This teaching examines certain sins that resulted in the death of the offender.

The author of the letter to the Hebrews knew the recipients had a working knowledge of their history as the Children of Israel. They understood that the original mandate of the Most High was for them to be a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation. However, they became a nation with a Priesthood descending from the house of Aaron of the tribe of Levi. The Hebrew writer introduced the Hebrews to a New Priesthood that they had very limited knowledge about that existed in the time of the patriarch Abraham.
