The last chapter of Paul’s Letter to the Thessalonians reveals additional reasons why he may have written both the 1 st and the 2 nd letters. The revelation of the 2nd Chapter of this 2 nd Letter is that Paul informs us in verse 5 and reminds them that while he was with the Brethren during his visit that he shared with them about the second coming of the Messiah. What Paul shared with them during his visit we are not informed, but it exposed a serious concern the Thessalonians had about the Messiah’s return, the events surrounding His return, and how some Brethren in the community were conducting themselves disorderly as a result of Messiah’s imminent return. A serious warning was issued about dealing with disorderly Brethren.

Why did Paul warn about disorderly Brethren in Thessalonica? Paul addressed disorderly Brethren because some Thessalonians, misled by misunderstandings about Messiah’s return, were not working and were living irresponsibly. Their conduct disrupted the community and spread confusion. Paul gave clear instructions to correct and warn such individuals, emphasizing the importance of discipline, responsibility, and proper conduct while waiting for Messiah’s return.
