To maintain order, YeHoVaH, in His Covenant with Israel, established incentives for obeying His Law called blessings. To discourage the Children of Israel and the nations that joined themselves to Israel from disobeying His Law, YeHoVaH made it clear in His Word what they could expect by not obeying His Law. The choices were clearly spelled out, spoken into Israel’s hearing, and written in stone so that everyone knew what to expect from the choices they made: blessings for obedience and curses for disobedience.
