The priesthood had become corrupt and the priests did not hold the people accountable and caused the people to stumble by the things they were doing and teaching. The people lost faith in YeHoVaH’s ways of living and in His rules and began to conduct themselves in ways unbecoming of the Children of Israel.

Malachi wrote to the people to:

• Encourage them
• Answer questions
• Challenge them to return to YeHoVaH and His Law
• Promise them that YeHoVaH would return to them when they returned to Him
• Warn the priests and the people of the dangers or curses they faced if they did not return to Him
• Announce the coming of John the Baptist and Messiah Yeshua
