LAST WEEK'S TEACHINGS

The opening verse of this portion of Joshua informs us that Jericho was completely shut up because of the Children of Israel. No one went in and no one came out. For the next seven days, Jericho and its inhabitants were locked down in fear because of what they had heard of the exploits of Israel and their God, YeHoVaH. Strict Instructions were given to Joshua to give to the Israelites for their own protection. The strategy to take Jericho, and afterwards the remains of Jericho, labelled the city as an accursed city and the contents of the city to be accursed. The only permitted survivors of the city would be a prostitute and her family........Jericho, the Accursed City

From Shem to Moses is roughly 1,000 years. According to resources, Shem’s descendant Eber is the originator of the Hebrew language. Therefore, it is only logical to conclude that Hebrew did not exist before Eber.  The first time the word Hebrew is mentioned in the Bible it is associated with Abraham. Nothing but the blood of Jesus, or nothing but the blood of Christ, I plead the blood, nothing but the blood, etc. are common everyday phrases used by religious people who have faith in Christ. But are those phrases Biblically accurate? Praise and worship songs, Sunday morning sermons filled with emotions and dramatic presentations lacking Biblical substance have provoked and stirred church goers into emotional responses while shaping and forming the thinking of the masses for generations. In this portion of Hebrews, the writer goes into detail to help the readers understand the significance of the blood sacrifices and their connection to the shed blood and ultimate sacrifice of our Savior and High Priest.
